(14024) Procol Harum is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 9, 1994 by the Italian amateur astronomers Piero Sicoli and Pierangelo Ghezzi at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( observatory code 587) near the town of Sormano in the province of Como .
The asteroid was named on June 14, 2003 after the British rock band Procol Harum , founded in 1967 , whose song A Whiter Shade of Pale , released in the same year, became one of the formation's greatest successes.
