(14612) Irtish is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 18 September 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the river Irtysh named, of the Mongolian Altai rises in China, through Kazakhstan and the West Siberian lowland streams and finally to 4,248 kilometers in Khanty-Mansiysk in Whether opens.
