(154493) Portisch is an asteroid of the central main belt , which was discovered on March 27, 2003 by the Hungarian amateur astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky at the Piszkéstető Observatory ( IAU code 561) in the northern Hungarian Mátra Mountains on behalf of the Budapest Konkoly Observatory .
The asteroid was named after the Hungarian chess master Lajos Portisch . It was named on the proposal of the astronomer Szilárd Csizmadia from the Vega Astronomical Society from Zalaegerszeg on February 22nd, 2016. Zalaegerszeg is Lajos Portisch's birthplace.
