(17702) Kryštofharant is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 1, 1997 by the Czech astronomer Petr Pravec at the Ondřejov observatory ( IAU code 557) on the Manda mountain in Ondřejov .

It was named on March 9, 2001 in honor of the Bohemian nobleman , imperial chamberlain , composer , writer , Orient traveler and humanist Christoph Harant von Polschitz and Weseritz (1564–1621), who was one of the most famous personalities of Bohemia at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century.

The celestial body belongs to the Eos family, a group of asteroids, which typically have large semi-axes from 2.95 to 3.1 AU , bounded inward by the Kirkwood gap of the 7: 3 resonance with Jupiter , and orbital inclinations between 8 ° and 12 °. The group is named after the asteroid (221) Eos . The family is believed to have emerged from a collision more than a billion years ago.
