(209791) Tokaj is an asteroid of the central main belt that was discovered on April 1, 2005 by the Hungarian amateur astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky at the Piszkéstető Observatory ( IAU code 561) in the northern Hungarian Mátra Mountains on behalf of the Budapest Konkoly Observatory .
The asteroid was named on July 12, 2014 after the Hungarian city of Tokaj , which is best known for the Tokaj wine named after the city .
