(2610) Tuva is an asteroid of the main inner belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomer Nikolai Tschernych on September 5, 1978 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095). There had already been unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid: in March 1939 (1939 EG) at the Iso-Heikkilä Observatory of the University of Turku , on March 29, 1955 (1955 FV) at the Goethe Link Observatory in Indiana and on March 26, 1977 (1977 FS 1 ) at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj. The provisional designation 1978 RQ was also given for a sighting of the asteroid in Nautschnyj.

The rotation period of the asteroid was recorded on May 13, 14, 15, 17 and 23, 2009 at the 50 cm Ritchey-Chrétien telescope of the Oakley Southern Sky Observatory (IAU code E09) in Coonabarabran , New South Wales can be determined to be 4.2666 (± 0.0004) hours.
