(35350) Lespaul is an asteroid of the main outer belt that was discovered on June 8, 1997 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had already been made on March 12 and 17, 1996 under the provisional designation 1996 EK 14 at the outstation of the Steward Observatory located on Kitt Peak .

The asteroid belongs to the Hygiea family, a rather older group of asteroids, as is believed, the largest member of which is the asteroid (10) Hygiea . (35350) Lespaul is in a 7-2-3 orbit resonance with Jupiter and Saturn .

The asteroid was named on October 4, 2009 after the American guitarist Les Paul , who died on August 13, 2009. Les Paul was significantly involved in the development of modern recording techniques and the further development of the electric guitar .
