(42482) Fischer-Dieskau is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 8, 1988 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in the Tautenburg Forest in Thuringia .
The asteroid belongs to the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa, which is also known as the Hertha family (after (135) Hertha ).
(42482) Fischer-Dieskau was named on January 6, 2003 after the German baritone , conductor , music writer and reciter Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (1925–2012).
