(5122) Mucha is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 3, 1989 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near the town of Český Krumlov in Bohemia .
The asteroid was named after the Czech poster artist, graphic artist , illustrator , painter , amateur photographer and craftsman Alfons Mucha (1860–1939), who is considered to be one of the outstanding representatives of Art Nouveau .
