Çiğdem Soyarslan

Çiğdem Soyarslan (born March 27, 1983 in Ankara ) is a Turkish opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

She graduated from the professional high school for fine arts "Avni Akyol Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi" in Istanbul. After studying opera at Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi with Nursel Öncül , Çiğdem Soyarslan studied singing with Claudia Visca , opera with Uwe Theimer and lied with Robert Holl at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts . She also attended master classes with Sebastian Vittucci, John Norris, Gustav Kuhn , Grace Bumbry , Francisco Araiza and Sherman Lowe.

After her debut as Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute at the Istanbul State Opera , Konstanze and Blondchen followed in the Abduction from the Seraglio at the Wiener Schauspielhaus in the Mozart year 2006. With this production and in both roles, she also appeared at the Grand théâtre de la ville de Luxembourg and at the Toneelhuis in Antwerp . Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw followed , as well as the Figaro- Countess at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn , finally Vespina in Haydn's L'Infedeltà delusa at the Jennersdorf Festival and again the Queen of the Night under the musical direction by Gustav Kuhn at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl. In 2010 she took part as Zulma in the world premiere of Cherubini's long-lost comic opera Koukourgi at the Klagenfurt City Theater, directed by Josef Köpplinger .

In the 2011–12 season, Çiğdem Soyarslan made his debut at the Frankfurt Opera as Konstanze, sang Donna Anna at the Vienna Opernwerkstatt , Gilda at the Volksoper Vienna , Rosalinde at the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy and the soprano solo in Carmina Burana at the Tyrol Festival Erl. In the following season Çiğdem Soyarslan appeared as a baroness in Parisian life at the Landestheater Linz and was signed up as a member of the Young Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien . There she sang key roles both in the historic main building and in the Vienna Chamber Opera branch : Mimì and Vitellia , Angelica in Handel's Orlando , Bubikopf in Ullmann's Kaiser von Atlantis and Jemina in Schubert's Lazarus . The unconventional production of La Bohème by the Vienna Chamber Opera was invited to Amsterdam in 2013 and Çiğdem Soyarslan celebrated a great personal success in the title role of Semiramide .

Her concert repertoire includes the old-style cantata (op. 19, composed in 1941) by the Turkish composer Ahmed Adnan Saygun and the soprano solos in Beethoven's Ninth and Mahler's Fourth Symphonies.
