The 2000/01 season was the 79th season of the Elite Ligue , the top French ice hockey division . The Dragons de Rouen became champions for the sixth time in the club's history .

In the main round, the eight teams played 28 games each. All eight teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. For a win after regular playing time and overtime, each team received two points, for a draw and a defeat after overtime there was one point and for a defeat after regular time zero points.
