State Prize for Science Journalism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian State Prize for Science Journalism is announced every two years by the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy and belongs to the group of State Prizes of the Republic of Austria . The state prize has been awarded since 1971 and is currently endowed with € 5,500. The award is given to outstanding journalistic contributions that take up topics from science and research in a competent manner and help arouse and deepen public interest and acceptance for science and research.

In addition to the actual state award for science journalism , the Federal Ministry awards a sponsorship award for science journalism , which is aimed particularly at young science journalists and is endowed with € 2,500.

In addition, special prizes are awarded at irregular intervals, often honoring the life's work of a science journalist as honorary or recognition prizes .
