Üzümlü (formerly Cîmîn , from the Armenian Tsimin / Çimin ) is a city and administrative center of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Erzincan . The town of Üzümlü is located 24 kilometers east of Erzincan and is home to more than half of the district's population (2018: 59.65%). In Byzantine times the place was called Tsoumina .
The district of Üzümlü is located in the center of the province and borders the central district ( Merkez ) in the west, the district Çayırlı in the north and northeast, the district Tercan in the southeast and the district Pülümür of the province Tunceli in the south. It is the second smallest district in the province, but has the highest population density after the central district .
The district was formed in 1987 from the eastern part of the central district. Until then, the places belonged to the Bucaks Üzümlü and Tanyeri ( Bucak Merkezi: Ocakbasi).
At the end of 2018, the district consisted of the district town, the municipality ( Belediye ) Altınbaşak (1,655 inhabitants) and 23 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 180 residents. The largest village is Bayırbağ with 1,484 inhabitants. This village is the second largest village in the province after Gümüştarla (central district).
