Świbna ( German  Zwippendorf , Sorbian Swibna ) is a village in the Lubusz Voivodeship in western Poland . It belongs to the town building Jasień (streets) in żary county (district Zary (Sorau) ). Earlier names of the place were towards the end of the 14th century Czwippendorf , at the beginning of the 15th century Czwippotendorf and towards the end Zcwippendorff .

history

The first written mention of the place can be found on page 109 of the land register of the Sorau lordship created in 1381 . In it he is recorded with the name Czwippendorf and three Deditzers are also mentioned. The later Vassallendorf of the Sorau lordship was owned by the von Bieberstein family at the beginning of the 15th century . In a document dated June 17, 1416, the place was recorded with the name Czwippotendorf. In 1494 it came into the possession of the von Gebelzig family and was listed in the “Niederlausitzer Mitteilungen” of March 10 of the same year with the name Zcwippendorff. Recorded as belonging to the von Grünbergs in 1508 and 1509/12, the place was owned by the von Wiedebach from 1550, which was also confirmed in documents from the years 1570, 1694, 1772 and 1810.

Before the Thirty Years War, five farmers and six gardeners did their jobs here. In the meantime, probably desolate, no farmers, gardeners or cottagers were recorded here in 1644. The manor house was built around 1700. In 1708 there is evidence of a half farmer, six gardeners, four Büdner and a total of 23 residents aged 12 to 60 years. In 1718 there were five cottagers and four cottagers in addition to a Hüfner and the village was parish off to Baudach. An estimate of 598 guilders was also reported. In 1723 again no information was given on the economic and social structure of the place. In 1765 the village came to the Guben district in the Electorate of Saxony . In 1810, a half-farmer, five gardeners and ten cottagers or Büdner were active on the site. After the Kingdom of Prussia came into being in 1815 , it became part of the newly formed Sorau district the following year . In 1818 two water mills were recorded as belonging to the village: the crab mill with nine inhabitants and a fireplace and the Thomas mill to the west with eight inhabitants and a fireplace. In total, the village had 169 inhabitants and 26 campfire sites that year. In 1820 the parish was parish off to Gablenz and in 1823 the name Walther was recorded as the owner and the place had eight gardeners and five allotment gardeners.

On a map from 1825, the settlement can be seen in the form of a wide lane. The Thomasmühle had 12 residents and a residential building in 1840. In 1845 there is a document that documents the change of ownership from a Schmidt to a Heyne. In 1846 a total of 220 inhabitants were counted. In 1849 Zwippendorf's membership of the local patrimonial court ended and from then on the Sorau district court was responsible. In 1850 a Heyne was registered again as the owner. In 1861 Graf von Schweinitz became the owner and in 1864 the Thomasmühle was recorded with 25 inhabitants and two residential buildings. In 1869 the village had a district size of 801 acres and the manor district of 1539 acres and both in 1871 a total of 290 inhabitants. 198 of them belonged to the community and 92 to the estate. In 1879 responsibility for the village was transferred from the district court to the Sorau district court. In 1900 there was next to the village, with an area of ​​204 hectares, a manor with an area of ​​393 hectares, two water mills, the Krebs and Thomas mills. In that year the 213 inhabitants were distributed with 172 on the community and 41 on the estate. The village and estate had a total of 214 inhabitants in 1925 and both districts were united in 1928. In 1939 there were a total of 193 residents here. In 1945 the Sorau District Court and thus the Guben Regional Court for Zwippendorf lost its jurisdiction.
