Šimon Voseček
Šimon Voseček (born April 13, 1978 in Prague ) is an Austrian composer of Czech origin.
Life
Composition studies with Otomar Kvěch at the Prague Conservatory , diploma in 2002, then in Vienna with Dietmar Schermann , Erich Urbanner and Chaya Czernowin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , diploma in 2008 with distinction. Co-founder of Platypus Ensemble & New Music Group. Voseček is one of the prominent composers of the younger generation in Austria. His second opera, Biedermann und die Brandstifter , was particularly well received by the public (UA Vienna 2013, Italian EA Bozen / Bolzano 2014, English EA London 2015, German EA 2017 in the Bremerhaven City Theater ). He wrote his third opera Hybris based on a libretto by Kristine Tornquist on behalf of the sirene opera theater (UA Vienna 2016). From 2008 to 2014 Voseček was a board member of the International Society for New Music (IGNM).

World premiere in 2013 by the Neue Oper Wien in the Semperdepot Vienna, director: Béatrice Lachaussée , musical director: Walter Kobéra . New production by the Independent Opera at Sadler's Wells in London in English translation by David Pountney , director: Max Hoehn, musical direction: Timothy Redmond. Another new production in the German original version in February 2017 in the Stadttheater Bremerhaven , director: Christian von Götz, musical director: Thomas Kolb.
