Štefan Sečka (born July 6, 1953 in Spišský Štvrtok , Slovakia ) is Bishop of Spiš .

Life

Štefan Sečka was ordained a priest on June 6, 1976 . After his work in the parish pastoral work, he became vice-rector on May 1, 1990 at the seminary in Spiš.

June 9, 1992 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Monsignor ; he obtained his licentiate on June 12, 1997 at the Catholic University of Lublin . On May 4, 2000 he received his doctorate in theology from the Comenius University of Bratislava .

On June 26, 2002 Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Spiš and at the same time titular bishop of Sita . He was ordained bishop on July 27, 2002 in the St. Martin's Cathedral in Spiš by the Bishop of Spiš, František Tondra . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Slovakia, Archbishop Henryk Józef Nowacki and the Archbishop of Košice , Alojz Tkáč . At the end of August 2002, František Tondra appointed him his vicar general . In the Slovak Bishops' Conference on October 22, 2002 he became chairman of the Council for Caritas (Slovak Catholic Charity (SKCH) as a non-governmental charitable, social, medical and educational service) and a member of the commission for the clergy.

On August 4, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Spiš, the installation took place on September 10th.

His motto is: CRUX CHRISTI PERFICIAT NOS (The cross of Christ makes us perfect).
