Živko Gocić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Живко Гоцић ; born August 22, 1982 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian water polo player . The captain of the Serbian national water polo team became world champion at the 2015 swimming world championships and European champion at the 2016 European water polo championships.

successes

Gocić is a two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games . In 2008 in Beijing only Hungarians and the US-Americans and 2012 in London only Croatia and Italy were more successful than Serbia in water polo .

Since 2006, Gocić and Serbia have won the World Water Polo League nine times : 2005 in Belgrade, 2006 Athens, 2007 Berlin, 2008 Genoa, 2010 Niš, 2011 Florence, 2013 Chelyabinsk, 2014 Dubai and 2015 in Bergamo. There was also bronze in 2009 in Podgorica. As the successor to Vanja Udovičić , he acted as team captain since December 2013.

At the FINA Water Polo World Cup he was successful with his country in 2010 in Oradea, Romania, as well as in 2006 in Belgrade. The European Water Polo Championships brought gold in 2016 in Budapest, 2014 in Belgrade, 2012 in Eindhoven and first in 2006 in Belgrade as well as once bronze in 2010 in Zagreb. His team also won gold with him at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara.

Club sport

In addition to Serbia, Gocić also worked for clubs in other European countries. In his hometown Belgrade he competed first and a second time for VK Partizan . He also swam and threw for and in Niš , Ortigia (Italy), for Dynamo Moscow, the Club Natación La Latina in Madrid and currently the Szolnoki VSC ( Szolnok , Hungary).
