action

Lonnie returns home after a hospital stay due to a failed suicide attempt. At a party of friends of her parents she meets her friend Rick again. Rick's mother had previously told him that he should take care of Lonnie. However, Rick is also fascinated by the pretty, reserved Lonnie. The two fall in love and meet more often. This is not right for the parents of the two, as they have other plans for their children. Rick's father wants Rick to follow in his footsteps and become a doctor, even though his interests are completely different. Lonnie's parents don't care much about Lonnie's own wishes either. Finally, the parents try to separate Lonnie and Rick by force by sending Lonnie to boarding school. However, Rick and Lonnie believe they cannot live without each other and kill each other together. Both families are threatened by grief and guilt. While the marriage of Lonnie's parents is now in dire straits, Rick's parents barely have the strength to look after his younger siblings. A long coping phase follows until the families can feel a little happiness again.
