(11083) Caracas is an asteroid of the main inner belt , which was discovered on September 15, 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809). There were unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid on December 3, 1986 at the French Observatoire de Calern under the provisional designation 1986 XR 2 .

The asteroid was named after Caracas , the capital of Venezuela , on March 20, 2000 .
