(165612) Stackpole is an asteroid of the main middle belt that was discovered on November 15, 2003 by the American amateur astronomer David Healy at the Junk Bond Observatory in Sierra Vista , Arizona ( IAU code 701), which he founded. The asteroid had previously been sighted on November 12, 1999 under the provisional designation 1999 VJ 231 at the Lincoln Laboratory Experimental Test System in Socorro , New Mexico .
(165612) Stackpole was on 21 March 2008 after the science fiction - author Michael A. Stackpole named, who lives in Arizona.
