(18059) Cavalieri is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 December 1999 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code 684) in Prescott , Arizona was discovered.

The asteroid was named on March 9, 2001 after the Italian Jesuaten monk , mathematician and astronomer Bonaventura Cavalieri (1598–1647), who taught at the University of Bologna and developed the principle of indivisibility and the Cavalier principle named after him .
