(2335) James ( 1974 UB ) is an asteroid of the main inner belt discovered on October 17, 1974 by the American astronomer Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory about 80 kilometers northeast of San Diego , California ( IAU code 675) .

(2335) James was named after the astronomer James G. Williams , who specializes in celestial mechanics .
