(242492) Fantomas is an asteroid of the central main belt discovered by the Swiss physics teacher and amateur astronomer Michel Ory on November 10, 2004 at the fully automatic Ritchey-Chrétien 81 cm telescope of the Tenagra II Observatory in Nogales , Arizona ( IAU code 926) has been. Michel Ory was able to control the telescope from Switzerland.
The asteroid is named after the fictional character Fantômas , the protagonist from the French crime novel series of the same name by the authors Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain . It was named on August 21, 2013.
