(3007) Reaves is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 October 1979 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after Gibson Reaves , who works as an astronomer and historian at the University of Southern California . He is an expert in the field of dwarf galaxies .
