(30830) Jahn is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 14, 1990 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .
The asteroid was named on April 27, 2002 after the German educator Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778-1852), who initiated the so-called German gymnastics movement and is therefore also known as Jahn's gymnastics father.
