(35087) von Sydow is an asteroid of the inner main belt , which was discovered on October 16, 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809).

The asteroid belongs to the Hungaria group . The 9: 2 orbital resonance with the planet Jupiter is characteristic of this group . The namesake for the Hungaria group is the asteroid (434) Hungaria . The solar orbit of (35087) von Sydow is strongly inclined at more than 21 ° in relation to the ecliptic of the solar system , another characteristic of Hungaria asteroids. The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (35087) von Sydow are almost identical to those of the two smaller ones, assuming the absolute magnitude of 17.5 and 17.8 compared to 15.2, asteroids (238815) 2005 OQ 16 and (335946) 2007 TF 71 .

(35087) von Sydow was named on April 15, 2014 after the Swedish actor Max von Sydow . In the dedication, his play in the film The Seventh Seal ( 1957 ) by director Ingmar Bergman is highlighted . The asteroid of the outer main belt (10378) Ingmarbergman, also discovered by Eric Walter Elst, was named after Bergman in 2000 .
