(48736) Ehime is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 27 February 1997 by the Japanese astronomer Akimasa Nakamura at Kuma-Kōgen Observatory ( IAU code 360) in Ehime Prefecture on the island of Shikoku was discovered.

The asteroid was named on September 28, 2004 after the Ehime Prefecture where it was discovered.
