(6879) Hyogo is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 14 October 1994 by Japanese astronomers Kazuyoshi Ito at Seng amines Observatory ( IAU code 410) in the Japanese prefecture of Hyogo was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the prefecture in which it was discovered.
