(8685) Fauré is an asteroid of the inner main belt , which was discovered on April 4, 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809).
The asteroid was named after the French composer Gabriel Fauré on November 20, 2002 . In the application for naming, his piano piece Ballade is particularly emphasized.
