action

August 2008: Toni Musulin has been working as a driver for the security company IBRIS for around ten years. Since he lives with the pub owner Marion, but neither have any children, he does not get any vacation like every summer. He is also not allowed to take time off at a friend's funeral, which annoys Marion, who once again interprets his behavior as indifference. When he receives a summons to the company management, although there is no reason, Toni refuses to go or to sign a declaration of refusal. His colleagues, whose team leader he is, admire him for his behavior. Toni is a role model and friend, especially for the simple Arnaud.

One day Toni bought a red Ferrari F 430 Spider at an auction for 105,000 euros . With Marion, in front of whom he claims it is a rental car, he drives to Monte Carlo for an evening , drives past the yachts of the rich on the harbor promenade and finally goes to a simple restaurant to eat and play bowling. The next day he rides his bike to work as always. At the end of the month Toni receives his paycheck and, in comparison with Arnaud's check, realizes that his supervisor has charged him three missing minutes for every day, which means a considerable difference at the end of the month. Toni, who was never late, complains, but his supervisor is disinterested, weighs it down and suggests that he may have always cheated on him out of money, but that he doesn't care. Toni feels humiliated and swears revenge.

He travels to his mother's and visits an exclusive club with his cousin, where he meets mountaineer Natalia. He flirts with her and says he will break up with his girlfriend on January 10th and then call her. Natalia gives him her business card. Toni meticulously prepares his revenge. He rents a garage under a false name, in which he pulls up a wall in front of the back wall. He places a coin in the gap created in between before closing all the gaps in the wall. He begins to treat Marion badly, does not explain where he spends his evenings and finally sprays himself with women's perfume shortly after New Year's Eve. She throws him out because she thinks he's cheating. In May 2009, he reported to the police that his Ferrari had been stolen. He takes out two loans that he uses to buy a motorcycle and rent a van. He humiliates Arnaud, who then breaks off his joint work tours with him. At the beginning of November, he and two new colleagues go on a trip to collect money from a bank. When both colleagues get more money bags from a company, Toni drives off unmolested in the IBRIS car, transfers the money into his parked van and deposits it in the garage. Then he drives his motorcycle into the mountains.

Tonis Coup, in which 11.6 million euros were stolen, caused a sensation. The investigations reveal considerable misconduct at IBRIS, so central rules and specifications were not adhered to. After the surveys of colleagues have revealed grievances in the company, the entire IBRIS board resigns. Toni is celebrated as a hero for his actions on social networks. The approval increased when only part of the money was discovered in Toni's garage: 2.5 million euros had disappeared and it was certain that Toni had hidden the money. He in turn is looking for Natalia in the mountains, but she is on a mountain tour and it is uncertain when she will be back. Toni finally surrenders to the police in Monaco on November 16, 2009. Because there is no search for him in Monaco, he is extradited to France. When questioned by the police, Toni is superior. He claims to have taken no money. Nevertheless, in addition to the theft, the police can also prove an attempted insurance fraud, so it has been proven that his car was not stolen, but Toni took him out of the country himself. After eleven months of solitary confinement, which has been criticized as unusually harsh, Toni is sentenced to five years in prison. The maximum penalty for stealing money is three years, so it is known as a judicial scandal that Toni was given two additional years for attempted insurance fraud. Toni also has the upper hand in prison. In winter, he told a newspaper that he had put up a wall in his garage that the police had not discovered. Investigators' humiliation finally culminates when they tear down the wall and find only one coin. The sum of 2.5 million euros has disappeared.

11.6 - The French Job is loosely based on the book Toni 11.6 - Histoire du convoyeur by Alice Géraud-Arfi from 2011. In it, the journalist dealt with the real case of Toni Musulin, who looted 11.6 million euros in November 2009 and has been in solitary confinement ever since. In reality, too, the whereabouts of the remaining 2.5 million euros is unknown.

The shooting took place in Lyon , Villeurbanne , Chamonix and Monaco (including the Hotel Fairmont Monaco). Nathalie du Roscoät created the costumes and Thérèse Ripaud designed the film . The film title 11.6 refers to the looted total of the coup.

The film was released in French cinemas on April 3, 2013, where it was seen by around 321,000 viewers. In Germany it was released directly on DVD on January 23, 2014.
