(3199) Nefertiti is a Cupid-type asteroid discovered by Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) on September 13, 1982 .

The asteroid was named after the Egyptian queen Nefertiti , the main consort ( great royal consort ) of the king ( pharaoh ) Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV) ( known as Nefertiti in German-speaking countries ).
