The Royal Farms Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Baltimore in the state of Maryland . The venue is currently the home of the arena football team Baltimore Brigade of the Arena Football League (AFL).
history
The building was designed by the American architect AG Odell Junior. The foundation stone for the structure was laid in 1961. The construction of the arena lasted about two years and cost 14 million US dollars . On October 23, 1962, the building was opened as the Baltimore Civic Center with a maximum audience capacity of 14,000. From 1986 to 2003 the hall was renamed the Baltimore Arena . The arena was named again in 2013 and 2014. From 2003 to 2013 the site was known as the 1st Mariner Arena . The hall is owned by the City of Baltimore and operated by SMG.
The event arena was home to numerous sports teams; so here were the teams Baltimore Clippers (1962–1977), Baltimore Bullets (1963–1973), Baltimore Banners (1974), Baltimore Blades (1974–1975), Baltimore Blast (1980–1992), Baltimore Skipjacks (1981–1993) , Baltimore Thunder (1987–1999), Baltimore Bayrunners (1999–2000), Baltimore Bandits (1995–1997), Baltimore Blackbirds (2007), Baltimore Mariners (2008–2010, 2014) and Baltimore Charm (2011–2014) in the Arena at home. From 1992 to 2017, the Baltimore Blast were based in the hall.
Also, concerts are held in the hall. The internationally known artists and bands such as B. Bruce Springsteen , Carlos Santana , David Bowie , Dire Straits , Eagles , Elton John , Eric Clapton , Kiss , Mark Knopfler , Prince , Rihanna and U2 .
In addition, there are show and family events such as the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus , the Cirque du Soleil , Disney on Ice, monster truck races , games by the basketball show troupe Harlem Globetrotters , fights by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Shogun Fights ( mixed martial Arts ) and preseason games of the NBA and the NHL take place in the hall.
