The 2-Länder-Route ( 2LR ) is a 275 km long long- distance cycle route in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands . It leads from the imperial city of Aachen to Nijmegen and crosses the German-Dutch border several times.

Route

The route follows the course of the Meuse and Wurm over long stretches . Larger gradients can only be overcome on the section of the route in and around Aachen until the route continues through the typical Lower Rhine landscape between the Rhine and Maas in mostly flat areas. Thus, the route is both scenic and culturally interesting, especially since it leads to around 350 historical sights of German-Dutch history. At Xanten , the 2-country route meets the Rhine, the approximate course of which it follows to Nijmegen and thus partially overlaps the Via Romana . Further overlaps can be found in Aachen with the Kaiser route and the moated castle route , in Roermond with the RurUfer cycle path , again in Xanten with the Roman route and in Nijmegen with the Rhine cycle path .
