The 27th Army ( Japanese 第 27 軍 , Dai-nijūnana-gun ) was a major unit of the Imperial Japanese Army from 1944 to 1945 . Her Tsūshōgō code (military code name) was Northern ( 北部 , Hokubu ) or Hokubu 100 .
history
The 27th Army was formed under the command of Lieutenant General Terakura Shōzō on March 16, 1944 and was under the 5th Regional Army . You were subordinate to the 42nd and 91st Infantry Divisions as well as two amphibious brigades and two independent mixed brigades . The headquarters of the army was on Etorofu , an island in the Kuril archipelago.
The task of the 27th Army was to arm itself against an Allied invasion .
On February 1, 1945, the Daihon'ei (Japanese Headquarters) regrouped the troops stationed on the Kuril Islands. The 27th Army was disbanded and its subordinate units of the 5th Regional Army directly subordinated.
