The ABU TV Song Festival 2016 was the fifth edition of the annual ABU TV Song Festival . The festival, which is not a competition, took place on October 22nd, 2016 on the Indonesian island of Bali and coincided with the 53rd General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), which was held on that day.

On March 24, 2016, Bali was announced as the venue by the ABU. Indonesia hosted one of the ABU festivals for the first time and regularly takes part in both competitions.
Bali is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Indonesia and is culturally popular with visitors due to the many temples as well as its volcanoes and long beaches. The capital is Denpasar , the Nusa Dua Convention Center in the suburb of Bualu, south of Denpasar, holds around 1900 spectators.

As a member of the ABU, Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) hosted the 5th ABU TV Song Festival together with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI).
Attendees
The maximum number of participants in the festival is 15 countries. A total of 12 countries took part, including Tunisia for the first time. Mongolia had originally announced its debut and Thailand its return, but both countries withdrew from the competition shortly before the show. While the People's Republic of China and Sri Lanka returned, Malaysia, India and the final host Turkey did not participate.
