The ABU Radio Song Festival 2015 was the fourth edition of the annual ABU Radio Song Festival . The festival, which is not a competition, took place on April 26, 2016 in the Chinese capital Beijing . 14 countries took part, including for the first time Macau , Nepal , Romania , Turkmenistan and host China.

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and has a history of over three thousand years. The name means "Northern Capital" (cf. Nanjing for "Southern Capital"). Beijing is now a city under direct government control, which means that it is directly subordinate to the central government and thus placed on an equal footing with provinces, autonomous regions and special administrative areas. The metropolitan area (including suburbs) has 11.8 million inhabitants (2007). As of 2017, the metropolis is to become the core of a megalopolis of 130 million inhabitants called Jing-Jin-Ji .

As the capital, Beijing is the political center of China. Due to its long history, Beijing is home to an important cultural heritage. This includes Tian'anmen Square (Chinese Square at the Gate of Heavenly Peace), the Forbidden City declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987 , the New and Old Summer Palace and various temples, such as B. the Temple of Heaven, the Temple of Lama and the Temple of Confucius. Beijing hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics and was also selected to host the 2022 Winter Olympics .

In July 2015, Beijing was announced as the venue.

Broadcasting television station

As a member of the ABU, "China National Radio" (CNR) hosted the 4th ABU Radio Song Festival. In contrast to the Eurovision Song Contest , the Asian version takes the form of a TV and radio festival.

Attendees

China and Macau have already participated in the ABU TV Song Festival and made their debut at the Radio Festival, along with Nepal, Turkmenistan and Romania. Brunei, Malaysia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are not participating this year. With Romania, a purely European country took part for the first time. The following 14 of the 17 submitted entries reached the final of the show:

•  Brunei : On February 20, 2016, Radio Televisyen Brunei announced that Brunei had not been invited and that participation is therefore unlikely.
