  • The ABU TV Song Festival 2014 was the third edition of the annual ABU TV Song Festival . The festival, which is not a competition, took place on October 25, 2014 at the Venetian , Macau , and coincided with the 51st General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), which was held from October 22-27, 2014. Macau made its debut as a host country alongside Turkey and the Maldives. Each country was only represented by one contribution. Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka did not participate.

    Along with Hong Kong, Macau is one of the two special administrative regions in the People's Republic of China. It lies at the western end of the mouth of the Pearl River , at the eastern end is Hong Kong. In the north, Macau borders the province of Guangdong , in the south lies the South China Sea . With 607,500 inhabitants on an area of ​​29.5 km², Macau is the most densely populated country in the world.

    Macau was a Portuguese colony from the 16th century until 1999 when it was returned to China under the Sino-Portuguese Convention. The venue contains 660 seats.

    The following countries announced before the competition that they would not participate:

    • MalaysiaMalaysia Malaysia : Malaysia's state broadcaster RTM announced that the country would like to withdraw in the 3rd edition of the festival
    • New ZealandNew Zealand New Zealand : TVNZ confirmed on June 5, 2014 that New Zealand was not interested in participating.
    • PhilippinesPhilippines Philippines : PTV announced that it will not debut in 2014.
    • TurkmenistanTurkmenistan Turkmenistan : In February 2014, the ABU met with a delegation from TTV to discuss debuts at Radio and TV Song Festival.
