AFC Challenge Cup 2008 / qualification
The qualification for the second AFC Challenge Cup took place from April 2nd to May 28th, 2008. 16 teams competed against each other in four groups with four teams each. The four group winners qualified for the finals in India .
As group winners, the teams from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Nepal qualified for the finals. Of the 16 teams registered, only fourteen went on to qualify as Laos and Palestine withdrew their participation.
In addition to the four athletically qualified teams, hosts India, North Korea, Turkmenistan and Myanmar also took part in the finals and played for qualification for the 2011 Asian Cup.

According to their results at the last edition in 2006 , the teams were divided into four pots.
The four group winners qualify for the final round. In addition to hosts India , North Korea , Myanmar and Turkmenistan are also seeded for the finals.

* Host the group. ** The Group D games were originally supposed to be played in Nepal , but the country withdrew from the game due to political problems. The Asian Association therefore switched to Phnom Penh , Cambodia .
