ASL Airlines Ireland is an Irish airline based in Dublin and based at Dublin Airport . It is a subsidiary of the ASL Aviation Group .
history
ASL Airlines Ireland was founded in 1972 as AirBridge Carriers in East Midlands . In September 1992 it was renamed Hunting Cargo Airlines . In June 1998 the Compagnie Maritime Belge bought 51% and Safair 49% of the company, renamed them Air Contractors and moved the company headquarters to Ireland. In 2015 it was again renamed ASL Airlines Ireland .
Destinations
ASL Airlines Ireland operates cargo and passenger flights to destinations within Europe and the USA . However, it mainly flies freight, especially for postal companies and parcel services (e.g. FedEx and DHL ).

Incidents
ASL Airlines Ireland has had three total aircraft loss incidents in its history:
- On July 17, 2011, an ATR 72-200 ( aircraft registration EI-SLM ), which was flying from Manchester to Shannon on behalf of Aer Lingus with 21 passengers and a crew of four , crashed while landing in Shannon with a stormy crosswind .
