The Abeille Bourbon is an approximately 80 meter long sea rescue tug of the type UT 515. The ship, built in 2005 and christened by Bernadette Chirac, is stationed as an emergency tug in Brest .

The ship has an output of 16,000 kW. The bollard pull is 200 t. At a wind speed of over 25 kn (46.30 km / h) the Abeille Bourbon leaves the port and patrols off the coast of Brittany in order to be able to intervene quickly in an emergency. When it is foggy, it anchors in the bay of Camaret-sur-Mer near the Brest port exit Goulet de Brest .

For example, the tug was alerted to the TK Bremen accident in December 2011, but did not reach the ship in time before it ran aground on the French coast. He was also on fire fighting on board the Grande America in the Bay of Biscay in March 2019 before the ship sank.

There is an almost identical ship, the Abeille Liberté , which is stationed in Cherbourg .
