Demolition of the ship on the beach

The TK Bremen left in the afternoon on December 15, 2011 despite storm warning the port of Lorient , with the aim Harbor Ipswich . Because of hurricane Joachim, the ship initially anchored eight kilometers east-northeast under the protection of the Île de Groix , but drove away at anchor on the night of December 16 and called for help at 0.40 a.m. The tug Abeille Bourbon stationed in Lorient could not reach the damaged vessel in time due to the weather. The TK Bremen ran aground about two o'clock local time near the village of Erdeven on the south coast of Brittany . The hull of the ship was badly damaged and lost around 180 tons of oil. From three o'clock the entire crew, consisting of 19 people, was picked up in two attempts by an NH90 helicopter from the Lanvéoc-Poulmic naval base and flown to Lann-Bihoué.

The ship was dismantled on the spot in early 2012.
