Across the Sun is a progressive metal and metalcore band from Portland , Oregon that was formed in 2004.

history

The band was formed in 2004. Since then the band has released three EPs: This War in 2006, Storms Weathered in 2008, and Pestilence and Rapture in 2009. In 2010 the band did a few tours across the United States. The band also supported Throw the Fight on their tour. They also performed at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and the Transmission Fest . Towards the end of the year, the band reached a deal with Metal Blade Records . Shortly thereafter, singer Brandon Davis, keyboardist Shane "The Brain" Murray, guitarist Sam Hafer, drummer Alan Ashcraft and bassist John Malloy with producer Daniel Castleman ( As I Lay Dying , Winds of Plague , Impending Doom ) went to Lambesis Studios . The album Before the Night Takes Us was released in 2011. In March and April a tour through North America followed with Vanna , Our Last Night , Attila and Arsonists Get All the Girls .

style

The singing technique used is mostly clear singing, although guttural singing is also occasionally used. The verses are mostly aggressive, while the choruses are more catchy. The band has been compared to Soilwork , Killswitch Engage , Sonic Syndicate and Scar Symmetry .
