Adolf Köcher

Friedrich Wilhelm Adolf Köcher (born December 31, 1848 in Dardesheim , † August 30, 1917 in Hanover ) was a German historian , university professor and privy councilor .

Life

Adolf Köcher attended high school in Halberstadt from Michaelis 1860 to Easter 1868 . He then studied philology and history in Berlin, Vienna and Bonn, where he mainly attended lectures by Theodor von Sickel , Heinrich von Sybel “and Schäfer”. At the University of Bonn quiver was based on his written in Latin treatise Aetate De Joannis Antiocheni, fontibus, auctoritate on October 16, 1871 to Dr. phil. before he passed the exam pro facultate docendi in Bonn on July 6, 1872 .

At Michaelis 1872, Köcher began his teaching post as a test person at the Gymnasium in Göttingen , which was run by the director Julius Schöning , where he taught history and geography for the upper classes as a regular teacher from Michaelis 1873 to Michaelis 1875.

At Michaelis 1875 Adolf Köcher was appointed to the Kaiser Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover .

From 1886, Köcher worked as a corresponding member of the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences .

The secret teacher also worked since 1890 and since 1892 with the title "Professor" as a lecturer in history at the Technical University of Hanover .

According to the address book, city and business manual of the royal residence city of Hanover and the city of Linden from 1912, the senior teacher employed at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium lived on the third floor of Bödekerstraße 11

Kocherstrasse

The Köcherstrasse, which was laid out in 1958 in the Hanoverian district of Waldheim south of Senator-Eggers-Weg, has since honored the secret teacher Adolf Köcher with its name.
