Adolf Wicklein (politician)

Adolf Wicklein (born February 11, 1924 in Sonneberg , Thuringia , † April 13, 2005 in Erfurt ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was the second secretary of the Erfurt district leadership of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).

Life

Wicklein, son of the toy worker Adolf Wicklein and a homeworker , attended elementary school and was a member of the Red Falcons . From 1938 to 1942 he completed an apprenticeship in the wooden toy industry and then worked as a toy worker at the Dressel company in Sonneberg. From 1942 to 1945 Wicklein did military service in the Wehrmacht . He was a soldier in the armored division and Armored Reconnaissance Battalion IV. In May 1945 he became a corporal in Schleswig-Holstein in British captivity , from which he was released in August of the same year. He returned to Sonneberg and was employed by the City Council of Sonneberg from 1945 to 1948.

Wicklein joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) on November 1, 1945 and became a member of the SED in April 1946. In 1947 he attended the SED state party school for three months. From 1948 to 1950 he was department head in the SED district leadership in Sonneberg . In 1950/51 he studied for a year at the party college "Karl Marx" of the SED. In 1951/52 he acted as first secretary of the Torgau district leadership of the SED. In 1952/53 he headed the “Governing Bodies” department in the SED district leadership in Halle (Saale) . From August 1953 to October 1954 he was secretary for agitation and propaganda of the SED district leadership in Halle (Saale). From November 1954 to 1955, Wicklein was an instructor in the “Governing Bodies” department of the SED Central Committee and the Central Committee's agent for the Suhl district . Between 1955 and 1958 he studied again at the party college "Karl Marx" and graduated with a degree in social science .

From 1958 to December 1959 Wicklein acted as secretary for agitation and propaganda, from December 1959 to February 1981 he was the second secretary of the Erfurt district leadership of the SED. Wicklein was replaced as second secretary for health reasons.
