Adrian Shooter , CBE , FREng , FIMechE (born November 1948 in London ) is a British entrepreneur and director of a railway company.

Life

Shooter was the first son of Reginald Arthur Shooter, (1916-2013) and his wife Jean (nee Wallace). He began his career in the 1970s as a trainee with British Rail . During the privatization of British Rail, he was Chairman of the M40 Trains Management Buy-out Consortium, which later became Chiltern Railways . Shooter became Chairman of DB Regio UK Ltd and retired from Chiltern and DB Regio in December 2011. He is currently (2011) Chairman of Vivarail , a company aiming to modernize London Underground D78 Stock and convert them to diesel railcars upgrade.

Shooter is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering , the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the Chartered Institute of Transport . He is Chairman of the West Midlands and Oxfordshire Regions of the Confederation of British Industry , Chairman of Bicester Vision, Director of Wabtec , and was Chairman of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership for 3½ years until the end of 2015 .

In 2013 Shooter became Chairman of Moorland and City Railways , and one of the Vice Presidents of Railfuture along with Lord Adonis , Chris Green , Roger Ford and Barry Doe . In 2010 Shooter was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to the rail industry .

Shooter is chairman of the British Model 'A' Ford Club. He is the owner of a class DHR 778 (originally No. 19) steam locomotive on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway , which he operates on the Beeches Light Railway on his estate in Steeple Aston , Oxfordshire . The corresponding wagons were procured from the Ffestiniog Railway . Shooter owns an Indian Hindustan Ambassador and a replica of a ' Ford Model T ' trolley for the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad , which he acquired from the Statfold Barn Railway .
