Adrienne Barbeau
Adrienne Jo Barbeau (born June 11, 1945 in Sacramento , California ) is an American actress and writer of French and Armenian origin.
biography
Barbeau took singing and dancing lessons during her high school and college years. In the mid-1960s she toured the Pacific bases of the US military as a member of the San Jose Light Opera Ensemble and worked in various jobs in New York towards the end of the decade, including as a go-go dancer and ticket seller in nightclubs . In 1968 she played the role of Hodel in Anatevka and from 1972 the role of Betty Rizzo in the musical Grease . For her performance in Grease , Barbeau was nominated for a Tony Award for "Best Supporting Actress in a Musical" in 1972 . Her success on Broadway brought Norman Lear's attention to Adrienne Barbeau and offered her the role of Carol Traynor in the sitcom Maude , which she played from 1972 until it was discontinued in 1978.
The actress married director John Carpenter in 1979 , who cast her in several of his films, such as The Fog and The Rattlesnake . She starred in George A. Romero's film The Witching Hour , as well as in Wes Craven's film The Thing from the Swamp . For television, Barbeau was in front of the camera in 21 episodes of the Carnivàle series from 2003 to 2005 . After Barbeau and Carpenter divorced in 1984, the actress married Billy Van Zandt in 1992 , with whom she has two sons.

Barbeau's autobiography There Are Worse Things I Could Do was published in 2006. In July 2008, she published her first novel, Vampyres of Hollywood , which she wrote with Michael Scott . The sequel Love Bites , which she wrote alone, was released in 2010.
