action

Zeus, a Labrador Retriever and former police dog, has lost his bark. He had to retire from the service and ended up in the animal shelter. There he is taken by George Bannister as a guard dog for the house and an early Christmas present for the family. On Christmas Eve the animal is at home alone as the family goes to visit the grandmother. The burglars Ted Stein and Stewey McMann have no idea that a watchdog has recently been found in the Bannister's house and are surprised by Zeus. After the dog has won after some back and forth between the opponents, Zeus finally finds his barking again. The family returns to see Ted and Stewey being arrested by the police. Happy and happy to have Zeus with them for their protection, they spend a merry Christmas together.

criticism

Critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the worst rating (thumbs down) and stated that the film was nothing more than "'Kevin - Alone at home' with a dog instead of Kevin: Feel-good nonsense for the family who likes to laugh for no reason."

At tv-kult.com, on the other hand, they found: "A sympathetic and amusing Christmas film in which a cute Labrador plays the leading role, and which should be very interesting and entertaining, especially for the little ones."
