Afonso Maria Ungarelli

Afonso Maria Ungarelli MSC (born May 2, 1897 in Marrara , Ferrara , Emilia-Romagna , † May 23, 1988 ) was an Italian, Roman Catholic religious and prelate of Pinheiro .

Life

Afonso Maria Ungarelli joined the Congregation of the Sacred Heart Missionaries at and received on 22 December 1928, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on November 13, 1948 Titular Bishop of Azura and Prelate of the Territorial Prelature Pinheiro . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Cardinal Carlos Carmelo de Vasconcelos Motta , ordained him episcopal on March 27 of the following year; Co- consecrators were Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo, and Idílio José Soares , bishop of Santos .

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

Pope Paul VI accepted his age-related retirement on March 1, 1975.
