The continuous decline in population since the end of the 19th century is essentially a result of the loss of jobs due to the phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the increasing mechanization of agriculture as a whole.
history
A church is mentioned for the first time in the 13th century; on the site of a castle ( château ) from the 15th century there is only a pigeon house ( pigeonier ) built later . In the 16th century the place came under the influence of Protestantism . Under the Ancien Régime , there was a post office here on the way from Paris to Spain.
Attractions
The town's old church was torn down in the 19th century and replaced by a new three-aisled building in neo-Gothic style. The size of the church and the towering bell tower with its pointed stone helmet are remarkable .
