Ailey is a city in Montgomery County in the US state of Georgia with 432 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Ailey is directly adjacent to Mount Vernon to the west and is about 250 km southeast of Atlanta .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 432 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 139 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.51 people per household. There are a total of 176 households.

71.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.05 persons. Children under the age of 18 lived in 34.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 33.8% of all households.

Ailey is crossed by US Highway 280 . The Vidalia – Cordele railway runs through Ailey . Built by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad , this route now belongs to the Georgia Department of Transportation and has been operated by the Heart of Georgia Railroad since 2000 .
